Problem is, unless they actually check that you kept everything people will take advantage of something.
e.g. $100 off an HD-DVD player if you buy an HDTV...you'll have people that buy the HD-DVD player and the HDTV for the discount, and then return the HDTV and keep the discount
|
Problem with that is "most" stores will take off the discount if any part of the deal is broken..aka you bring back a item. Best buy is just not checking for this sort of thing I guess.
Case in point, one forum I looked at the kid tried to take back the hd dvd player and the guy at BB said that he would have to take the discount off too. The kid then asked if he could swith it for a blueray player instead, the guy said that was okay, the kid then took the blueray player to another best buy with the "clean" receipt and got his money back that way.
So that is just another loop hole incase they confront you on the issue, because apparently when the kid switched from the hd dvd to the blueray player, the receipt they gave him had no info that it was part of the "hd advantage" thing.

So perhaps it is dependent on the person who's helping you. Thing is, most reps have no idea what the HD Advantage is so they just look at, blink a few times, and ignore it.
Another thing people have done is put everything on one Credit Card and then transfer everything but the HDTV to another Credit Card. That way when you return it they don't even see that the HDTV was discounted!

I don't feel sorry for taking advantage of stupidity of a huge chain. On the other hand, I'ld feel bad for taking advantage of a small ma & pa shop...
Best Buy's own damn laziness and lack of training is costing them money.

I know what you mean.. It is a loophole and for all the advertising its been getting it sounds like they haven't changed a thing yet.... Now if this was Wal Mart or M$ I wouldn't do it in a heart beat...

Walmart? Why wouldn't you do it to Walmart? The owner of Walmart is one of the richest people in the world

He probally ment that he would do it to walmart.
I'll try it, just need to get a bigger balance on the bb credit card and if everything works out then i'll have a balance to pay of $150.
I'm gonna try and get the same tv as deathwish, but there might be a cheaper package.

You can get a 37" LCD for $999...but you don't have the chance of getting the $200 rebate from Panasonic

Sorry yeah I meant would do it if it was Wal Mart or M$... Now one thing I dont get in this forum is what is cosidered fraud.. I was involved in a couple of threads that asked how to purposely cause your 360 to get a RROD so you can get it repaired for free or buying a 360 while yours is away for repair and then returning it when it gets back.. Both were closed down because it was considered fraud.. I kind of feel that this is in the same boat and this is actually a sticky!
Kind of shady but........ - Xbox 360 Forum
