This isn't fraud, it's a loophole based on the ignorance and undertraning/pay of Best Buy employees. Getting the discount isn't deceiving anyone...

Its not fraud, BB set it up that way. Chances are 99.9% of people arent taking advantage of it or doing it. I have read plenty of stories of best buy screwing people over anyway. I really wanna do it, but I dunno.

How do you knowabout the panny rebate ?
With direct Tv are they making you sign a contract ?

yeah, you sign a form saying you dont own the box and you are only leasing it. It has nothing to do with this deal.
People do this alot, but we cant stop it. I dont even care anymore.
(I work in the home theater department) 
I would do it myself if I had enough in my account to cover the initial cost.

Fraud to me is when somebody has a 360, that is either out of warranty or they don't have a receipt. They then purchase a new 360 from somebody like Walmart and then put the old 360 into the box and return it.
In the case of the deal here above, while a bit questionable from an ethics perspective, it's a loophole in the deal that Best Buy should be looking for. But apparently they are not. In the end, i'm sure Best Buy will do just fine. It probably saves them on a bunch of taxes anyway with the lower profits...so in the end, it could be to their advantage.

lets be honest, i hope no one is under the illusion that BB don't get some kind of bonus for their end of year prfofits and incomes, i dont know how long refunds take to go through in the US but i'm sure they will declaire their incomes at an inflated rate.
