Old Hi-8 Video Tapes

Hi everyone!

The problem I've had for a while now is that I have a crap load of old Hi-8 camcorder tapes with lots of memories on them.

I now have a mini dv camcorder and no way of playing the old Hi-8 tapes.

I've asked everyone I know if they have a suitable camcorder and no one has.

My question is:

What are my cheapest options of extracting the footage from these cassette (preferably onto my PC)

Find an old, cheap camera to play them, and get a TV capture card with Composite Input to record them.

Off topic:

I saw this cool turntable at my school store to digitize your old records. My mom has like 100 that she doesn't listen to anymore and it would be sweet to get some old school vinyl on your computer at high bitrate.

Nero Burning ROM has some software that will clean up LPs. (removes pops and cracks in the audio etc)
