HD-DVD Add-on

Knowing that Xbox 360 games in the future will be on HD-DVDs, I am planning to buy the HD-DVD add-on in the near future. But I'm still not sure about a few issues concerning it.

1. Does the HD-DVD add-on read DVD Dual Layer discs? If so, when I buy an HD-DVD add-on from the US and install it on my European (PAL) Xbox 360, will it work? Will NTSC discs (DVD DL) work my Xbox (through the HD-DVD add-on) without any compatibility problems?

2. Will HD-DVDs (games or movies) be region-coded?

I have researched about the latter issue but I'm still not able to get an answer.

1. Yes
2. No(btw HD-DVD games will never be made)

Honestly...I wouldn't buy the HD-DVD add on. Mainly because I don't see HD-DVD winning now that Time Warner went exclusive and BluRay discs are outselling HD-DVD 4:1 each week, but also because you can buy an HD-DVD stand alone player for $119

deathwish pretty much said it but blu ray has beat hd-dvd, so investing in an hd-dvd add-on for your 360 would be a waste of money. wait for something like this with blu ray technology to come out and get that.

They are not making HD-DVD games. It would cut off all the millions of original Xbox 360 owners. It's actually illegal, and would be considered extortion, to force people to buy HD-DVD add ons.

You guys are so dumb it amazes me.

When I go to a public bathroom I always have a feeling those sensors in the stall (which make the toilet flush automatically) are actually cameras watching my penis.

Well I've thought about buying an HD-DVD player...simply because it's so cheap and does a great job at upconverting DVDs. A decent upconverting DVD player costs the same price...so why not? I wouldn't buy any movies...but I'ld probably rent them

I had the HD-DVD add-on..I enjoyed it while I had it, too. The only reason I got rid of it was money issues.. I even tried to buy another one, but it ended up lost in the mail or something, because it never got to me.

Anyways, if you buy the HD-DVD add-on, get it used on ebay or amazon, then get a Blockbuster Online membership and rent the HD-DVD's, that's what I did and it worked out great.

Here in the UK I work in a big factory that has an intranet with a "Classified Ads" section. Last week an Xbox 360 add on HD drive was sold for £45!!!
Can't give them away now. I've said in a previous thread that HD was screwed since the porn industry chose blu-ray. (pun intended).
