Yeah, i'm guessing you got your rec. when HDMI switching first started to show up... Most A/V receivers now, even in the sub-$300 range, have 1080p compatible pass-through (but no HDMI audio). The ones with audio decoding probably have at least HDMI 1.3... Onkyo comes to mind.
