wired connection from 360 to wireless router

Hi, I am really new to this and just got a premium system from a guy I work with for $200. I really bought it so I could play Online with him and others from work and I have a WRT-54g Wirelss router. My question is can I connect my 360 to the wireless router my plugging an Ethernet Cable (don't have one yet) from the 360 into one of the ports on the back out of the wireless router? I know this sounds stupid but my 360 is going to be set up only about 3 feet away from my cpu and wireless router, so I figure I can save money by not having to buy the offical wireless Game Adapter. anyone know if its possible? Thanks, Evan.

Can you hook your 360 up to the internet via ETHERNET cable?

Yes, why couldn't you? That is what the ETHERNET port is for on the back of the 360.

Whoever told you, you could only hook it up wirelessly is stupid.

ok, but I wasn't sure I could run an ethernet net cable from 360 to a wireless router for a connection because the router is wireless but, that must be why there are 4 ports on the back of the router for a wired connection if somebody wants to do it that way?

Being wireless doesn't have anything to do with it. Most if not all wireless routers have ETHERNET ports on the back of them.

I have a Linksys Wireless router and I have all of my computers setup via Ethernet. Also I run them on wireless at the same time.

The ports wouldn't be there if they weren't meant to be used. Just because it is wireless doesn't mean that is the only way. Also reading the manual can help too. Always read manuals.

Router is either wired or wireless. You have the capability of doing wireless if you chose to.
