While Plasma's do use more power than an LCD, I'm not sure that it's enough to really warrant getting a less quality black image for a couple of bucks on the electricity bill each month.
Keep in mind that plasmas use the most power when they display a pure white image, while an LCD consumes the most power when they display a black image.
I've read in numerous places that a great rule of thumb is that plasma's will cost about 1/3 more to run. So, if you pay $6 a month for your LCD, a plasma will run you $9.

I dont know if anyone knows this one but HDTV's and my wii dont mix. I cant put my Wii in the 720P or 1080P resolution. So the image takes time to upscale resulting in a delay in every button you press (Its small but I notice it) . Do plasmas suffer the same problem when you try to use consoles other than xbox360 or PS3?

Burn in really is not an issue. I've had 12 hour COD4 marathons and have watched several hours on one stations before with no sign of burn in or image retention.
Plasmas are made from glass so you have to be a little more careful with them. Just keep them up right when you travel with one, other than that...there's nothing you need to do.
Today's plasmas have a 60,000 hour life span. Longer than almost anyone will ever use their's.
Plasmas have no problems with gaming. They have less than 2ms response times and there's no lag to speak of. Not to mention plasmas have a much higher motion resolution than LCDs.
I've used my Wii on several HDTVs w/o any issues. The Wii outputs 480p which pretty much any decent HDTV can handle w/o issue. If you have noticed a delay it was probably because of that TV, not all HDTVs in general.

Go to cnet.com - they just posted an article, 7 things you need to know about plasma burn -in.
I have a 2 year old dell plasma that works just swell. It had the most bang for the buck at the time.
I notice some image retention after watching a basketball/fooball game. You can still see the scoreboard if you switch channels. My wife doesn't notice, of course. But it clears up after a few minutes of watching something else.
Also, from what I read, the plasmas still look better on fast moving sports/games than lcds. I've heard mixed reviews on the samsung LCD even with the 120Hz scan - in some cases fast moving pictures looked worse.

Have you ever used an LCD TV?!
I did a ton of research before I bought my TV and I decided to go with an LCD over a plasma. All the reviews I read said plasma's are better for movies but LCD's are better for gaming and since I am on XBox360Forum I am more into gaming over watching movies.
Here's my TV - The LG 42LB5D 42-inch LCD TV: 1080p resolution, 10,000:1 Contrast Ratio. Need I say More?

I have 2 LCD TV's at the present time. They don't have a true black, just a very dark grey. There is no question that the black levels on a plasma are far better than LCD. And I find black levels to be extremely important for movies and video games alike.
You do realize that the 10,000:1 contrast ratio on that LG is "dynamic contrast ratio" right?????

LCDs have gotten better and are getting better. The new Samsungs with LED localized backlights give blacks that rival that of a plasmas but at the same time could only achieve this blacks with a glossy screen giving worse glare than a plasma.
