hooking my HDTV to my receiver
how do i hook my HDTV to my Onkyo receiver with 5.1 dolby digital?

What TV model, and what receiver model?
Also what other devices do you have?

polarroid 28 inch hdtv
xbox 360
cable box
dvd player
onkyo 5.1 dolby digital reciever with surround sound and sub.
i hooked up an rca cable from the monitor out plug on the reciever to the video in plug to the tv and nothing.

1. you have a cheap tv
2. have you selected the correct input on the tv?
3. are you trying to run HD material through your yellow cable?

all i got hooked up is the optical cable from the reciever to the tv

u cant get 5.1 out of your tv if your only feeding your tv 2 channel...
u will have to run each device to the receiver via optical or digital coaxial

You should hook everything up to the receiver and then only run the needed video cables to the TV. You don't need to run any sound to the TV itself
