new 42" tv and stuck
sorry if this is in the wrong place..
well i've just bought a new 42" HD Philips tv.
and playing my xbox the piccture is crap on SD.
and as my xbox is the arcade the HD leads didn;t come with it.
so i went out today and bought a joytech 'digital AV cable pack' which is baisicaly HD leads. (are on the joytech website i just can't post links lol)
the only problem i have now is that the SD works fine, but the HD only does sound when switched onto HD, and no picture at all. i've tried different wiring (obviously still keeping in with the colour coded wires)
i'm wondering if this is a bad idea and to take the wires back and get some better ones?
cheers

I would only buy official stuff when it comes to audio/video cables mate as third party things are often shit.
Got anything else you can use that will give out HD signals to test it isnt the TV?

this may be stating the extreme obvious, but you plugged them into the COMPONENT inputs right? Y/Pb/ Pr: Y is greenish, Pb is blueish, Pr is redish. Make sure these 3 are correctly plugged in. These 3 are for VIDEO signal only. You still need to plug in the regular red and white plugs for sound.

Also, when using HD, you will need to change the settings in your XBOX 360 menu. It's on the very last blade to the right, display settings or something. When your cables are correctly plugged into your HDTV, you can then set the xbox to display 1080p or i (whichever your TV supports).

I use HMDI with mine and its a whole lot easier, looks a lot neater behind tv aswell
And yes HDMI does the same, probably cheaper aswell.
