PC Monitor region question

Hi everyone, I just got my xbox and i got a couple of questions

1. At the moment i have a small 15" LCD with a pretty poor res, am i missing out on the xbox360's graphics if i dont buy HDTV or similar spec LCD

2. Im actually considering getting a high res LCD monitor, like
20" TFT Monitor 1680x1050
and using the VAG cable to connect them instead seeing as its a lot cheaper.

I also know someone who works on a American airbase in the uk so i can pick up some good for half the price, obviously theres no point buying tv's from there because of the refresh rate, pal, ntsc things, BUT are monitors also affected by this, can i run a US pc monitor on a UK Xbox???

I'm pretty sure UK 360s are the same as USA 360s as I remember people having problems in the UK if their TV didn't support 60Hz.

You should be just fine if you get a monitor and use the VGA cable
