sharp aint all that great, u get allot of false contouring, just like on lg's. as a matter o fact, sharps suck ass.
the new panny's are amazing. we even did our ISF calibration demo on it. It looked good b4 but after an ISF it is godlike. Anyway, the insignia's right now are made buy jainghong su, used to be top victory. In other words, yeah they are pretty good, but now that u can get a real TV for almost the same cost, there is no reason to buy one. Get the panny.
As 4 the warrenty.
good points:
-in home service for 4 years
-Covers everything under the sun except for physical damage
-that includes surges, heat, humidity, and anything else u can think of.
-24 hour response time.
Bad points:
-its not free, but u get what you pay for. I mean, in 3.5 years just plug the thing into a dryer outlet.

I have looked a bit at plasmas, but the glare on them is horrible. Even the ones with the "anti-glare" coating are really bad, and I don't know if I want to deal with it. I know best buy is very bright, but even so, I was still thinking LCD.

Panasonic makes one of the best HDTVs you can buy. Samsung is not the best of the best, they're good...but when it comes to LCDs Sony is better and when it comes to plasmas they don't have anything on Panasonic.

The Panasonics with antiglare coatings look excellent. The coating does not degrade the picture quality at all.

Been taking everyone's advice into consideration, and I've been looking around more, and I stumbled upon this unit. I think its a gen older than the one suggested by deathwish. What do you guys think about this one. It's a tad cheaper (good cause I'm on a college budget), but I think it's pretty similar.

The current line is maybe $100 more at most and is SUBSTANTIALLY better. The one you linked is the one I have

sorry you lost me....the one you linked to is substantially better than the one you have? meaning the extra 100-200 is well worth getting the TH-42PX80U over the TH-42PX75U?
