New TV - Insignia 42"
Hey guys, been looking A LOT at LCD's since I got my Xbox, and I think I may have found the one to get. It's a 42" Insignia 1080p LCD. I have been told Insignia is just Best Buy's house brand, and they are made by LG, Sharp, and (I think) Samsung because those 3 all make their own parts. This particular one is supposedly made by LG, and while comparing it to an LG the pictures do look amazingly similar.
I have been learning as I go on the subject of HDTV's, and I think this one has just about everything I want for a great price. I have read a bunch of reviews and this one seems to get 9/10 or about 4-4.5/5, so I figure that is a good sign. The one downside people seem to have are the speakers, but I figure I'll deal with them for now, till I get to a semi-permanent residence (I'm in college now).
So if anyone has any input on the subject PLEASE share, as this is quite a large investment. Also wondering about the extended warranty. This one has 1 yr parts and 90 days labor, and I read on CNet that there usually isn't really a reason to buy the extended.
Now for the link...

Insignia is Best Buy's house brand...but for that price a 42" Panasonic plasma is a hell of a lot better. I'm sure it'll be $1000 on sale soon enough.
The Insignia LCD isn't bad, but it's not really gonna compare to a higher end plasma at all. It's not a fair comparison to be honest. Oh and I wouldn't put much weight on the reviews of the Insignias. Most people aren't going to buy an Insignia unless they really want one...

I'd spend the extra and get a Sharp or a Samsung.

For $99 more you can get the Panny. Or wait for the price drop.

Like others have said, I would definitely go with the 42" Panny for $100 more.

Yeah, another vote for the panny. Saving $100 on far less quality is simply not worth it. The picture and especially black levels from the panny are going to make for a far better experience.

The only thing which is "future proof" is DEATH. Did I mention, I absolutely hate the use of the term "future proof".

MY friend had an insignia for a day. Then he smelt burning and returned it.

Are Pannasonics any good?
I know Samsungs are the best of the best, right up with Sharp.
