Unlocked iPhone
Im thinking of buying one. Just wondering if anyone else has an iPhone, what you think of it etc, and whether anyone else is using an unlocked iPhone?

My boss has one, but it has an old version of the firmware.
He said alot of the features are buggy, and is afraid to upgrade the firmware incase he bricks it!
He likes it though, so if you get one, make sure it has the latest firmware before you unlock it.

Yeh Ive seen a few that have already been unlocked, and have the latest firmware etc.
Just wondering if they still have all their usual features etc though. I know you lose 'visual voicemail' which Im not too bothered with, but apart from that it seem slike you keep the rest of the functionality, and it asks you before a firmware update, which you obviously cancel....

The rumor mill is speculating that Australia is going to get an unlocked 3G version released in June.

Personally, I'd go for the Nokia N96.

The Nokia N series phone are unbelievably good.
They totally resorted my faith in Nokia's ability to build a quality phone.
I had the N70, and the MP3 playback on that was as good as the iPod's and has only gotten better with each revision.

Wait before getting an iPhone. If they come out with an iPhone w/ 3g, I may very well get one myself. I love Nokia, but the N95 is way too pricey.
I have a Nokia N75 and I do like it, but Symbian is a bit laggy which is a little on the annoying side.

Actually, after a few months of solid use, I think the N95 is probably the most unreliable Nokia I've owned. And I've owned a few!
That being said, it's still 100% more reliable than any of the Windows Mobile phones I had!
In regards to the iPhone, it's incredibly easy to update and jailbreak the phone to the latest firmware. But don't upgrade to 1.14 the legit way otherwise you have to downgrade again before installing the already jailbroken firmware.
The process is near identical to the iPod Touch and I've been upgrading and jailbreaking my Touch since they were released without any issue at all.
Actual "bricking" doesn't occur. You can always get to the bootloader at a minimum and then jailbreak from there. The worst that will happen is you lose your data if you haven't backed up (which is your own stupid fault to begin with!).
The potential of a 3G version is the only thing holding me back from getting an imported iPhone. I love the interface, I love the modding scene, and I love the features.

That N96 does look awefully nice!! lol
I believe you can get iPhones that are unlocked and already have 1.14 on them anyways, which is probably what I would go for. Im still deciding to be honest.....
Other then the visual voicemail, I dont htink you lose any other features....?

No i dont own One but i wanted to until i heard the internet on alot of them breaks and its worse than Dial up alot of my mates say they are crap and Recommend getting other Phone's
So im COnfused Because people say they are good other's say There Bad
