With that logic, he should buy a projector.....

like someone else said, when an LCD (or plasma for that matter) goes bad or loses a color, you have to replace the whole TV...a rear projection you only need to replace a bulb......and i believe the type of rear projection the other guy is talking about where you can sit anywhere and see it is a tv with DLP but i could be wrong.....im no expert

Almost everywhere on the horizontal axis, but vertical viewing angles are horrendous so you MUST be at just the right level for them to work.
Plasma or front projector IMO. Are you sure 37" is the right size for you? Check the recommendations thread sticked at the top.

For $1000 you can get a 42" Panasonic plasma. That imo is the best you can get.
How far back do you sit?

But it's not? Plasmas have better black levels, viewing angles, response times, more natural colors, etc...
Sound and Vision's Plasma vs LCD comparison this year came out with Plasma as the winner

Rear projection HDTVs have pretty much a 178 degree horizontal viewing angle...but its horizontal angle isn't so great. However, that shouldn't matter unless you plan to sit on the floor...

The current generation probably are, I haven't looked into this in the last 12 months.
I have always been under the impression that LCD is better for gaming due to burn in. Granted that burn in is no where near as a big issue as it was 2 years ago, but plasmas still suffer from it to some degree.
The current gen LCDs have great black levels too, not as good as Plasmas, but still bloody good neither the less, and you have to be bloody picky to notice the difference, and for the money unless you can find one of these Panasonic plasmas you rave about, I'd be getting the LCD.

Burn in isn't a big deal. I've played for 14 hours straight w/ no burn in.
You don't have to be picky to notice the difference. I'm not happy with the blacks on my Panny after seeing a Pioneer Kuro. I can tell that there is room for improvement.
Why buy something less for more money? It doesn't make sense to me

lol the only guys defending the rear projection are, well.... the owners hahaha. Rear projection is old technology, that is like saying you should buy a vhs instead of a dvd or BD...
