hd set up question

Hi this has probably been asked a million times but need some help setting my 360 up for hd as iv'e just upgraded from ps2.lol

iv'e got the 360 premium(with out hdmi socket) & have just bought a sharp aquos 46 in hd ready tv to play on but the tv doesn't have the ports for the red, green & blue cables.
It has 2x hdmi ports, 2x scarts, 2x sets of composite, 1x s-video & 1x vga port.
I can use standard definition & it looks amazing but would like hd gaming as thats why i bought the 360
cheers
steve

Buy a HDMI cable and put it in Xbox and TV or use VGA cables.

What you said (OP) doesnt make sence. If its a HD TV then it will have component cables in the back (Red, Blue, Green) Thats the only way to get HD with out an HDMI cable. Which I see you dont have that console.

To the above question... NO. Only HDMI to VGA

Not true
My TV is 2 years old and is HD, but doesn't have component.
Instead it has DVI, so i use VGA - DVI to get my HD

Really? Wonder if its a UK thing. I have never seen a HDTV with out Component inputs. I just bought a new Samsung and it doesnt have any composite inputs (yellow, red, white)

You've proved me wrong.. another wrinkle for my brain.

I think its because its 2 years old and HD wasnt really out then.

I got a new Samsung TV downstairs couple of month ago,
42", has 3 Component Inputs and 3 HDMI inputs

ok so all hd tv's are meant to have red, blue & green ports.
my tv is full hd 1080p & doesn't have those 3 ports.
someone has told me i can get the 360 set up go hd using a vga - rca cable so i can plug the red, blue, green in to the rca end & the vga end in to my tv's vga port.
would this give my 360 hd gaming?
sorry if its a silly question but im technophobe.lol

just buy one of these things:
Newegg.com - Link Depot 10 ft. HDMI TO HDMI A/V Cable Model HDMI-HDMI-3 - Cables(an hdmi to hdmi cord)

or...

something like this:
Amazon.com: Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable: Video Games

I suggest just ditching the component cable that the xbox came with, seeing as your tv doesn't have one, and those video converter cables can be messy (atleast I don't like them).
