converting non hdtv to hdtv!!!
I read somewhere that you can get non HDTV's converted to HD ready for the digital switchover.
Anyone know if these can be succesfully done and what its likely to cost??

Cant be done.
Digital switchover only means that you need a set top box of some sort to be able to recieve freeview because theyre turning the analogue signals off.

Yea I think maybe im confusing myself! 
I think its was that the tv could be converted to digital. Not to HD!!
Ignore me, im tired, was up til late playing forza, then up at 5 for work this morning, lol

You can't magically turn a non HDTV into an HDTV. In order for a TV to be HD it has to have a resolution higher than 720p, there's no way to magically change its resolution

I was playing it till 2am myself lol.
Just get a set top box with freeview, or you dont need to bother if you have virgin/sky tv

You can get a digital converter for your non-digital television...there is a government website..not sure bout the url..but you can google it...and you get a voucher from them to get a converter for a NON_DIGITAL Tv...

I think a lot of people think that next year things are going HD and not just digital. I think companies are using that to sell more HD tv's. My local news did a news clip about how everything was going HD and people needed to get a new TV.

No it's not going all HD. It's going digital and analog is being shut off
