There is no jailbreak for the new iPod Touch so far, but one is sure to come out in the next several weeks. I'm still waiting for my local stores to get them in stock, I like instant gratification. I'm getting a 16GB one though and putting Simplify Media on it, which will give me access to all my music as long as I have wi-fi.

I have a large question though regarding this. While I may not be interested in ipod, the method of streaming has interested me and used similar on my devices before.

The first thing I'm going to ask is, by WiFi do you mean in your house, or at a public place? Curiously, what is your upload of your internet connection?

If you're upload is too slow (128kB/s) it will take two seconds per second of song at 256CBR, almost three for 320CBR.

While this is a good thought in theory, you must make sure your internet is up to snuff. Who wants the wait the damn length + to listen to a damn song.

Just food for thought.

(BTW, 128CBR sounds like crap so don't even suggest it)

It can be from any wi-fi source, it doesn't have to be the same one your computer on. And I don't have an iPod yet, so I haven't been able to text it, but the videos show a 5-10 second buffer before the first song and then the ones following in the playlist/album buffer while the other one is playing (I'm guessing). I'm not good with the technical side of it, so I can only talk about what I've seen in reviews though. I'll hopefully be getting the iPod this week, so I can tell you more then.

That Simplify Media thing looks ok, but kinda redundant. Especially since it costs $4 to buy the client for the Touch.

Alternatively, use Tversity. Set it up on your PC, stream it to your 360 and PS3, and browse to it through Safari on your Touch. It works perfectly and they've made Tversity look like a native iPhone app even though it's nothing more than a web page. Any file format will stream without issue.
If you wanna try to stream online you can forward the Tversity port in your router and then remember the IP address of your home internet connection. Put that address into any PC or Touch web browser and access all your media. As Shike said, you need a decent upload rate on your connection to pull it off, though.

They're charging for the Simplify app now? When I got it it was free. I'll check out TVersity though. Another plus of Simplify Media is that you can access 30 other people's libraries as well.

It's free for the 1st 100,000. Not sure how many have gone through. Knowing my luck, they'll charge me for it if I went to give it a try!

But yeah, Tversity runs all my multimedia streaming to all devices, including the Touch. Works a treat.

Do what I'm doing Bish, download apps now while they are free, and once you get your iPod then put them on.

I've already got heaps of apps, and once I get the iPod I'll have them already.

And I've managed to cull my music from 10,500 songs (40GB) to 7,000 songs (28GB).

Just enough room for the 32GB.

Well I already have a Touch so I don't need to download and wait until I get it.
I went through the free apps the other week and there wasn't much I was interested in. The Jailbroken apps, on the other hand..... hehe, Quake runs awesome on my Touch!
