This used to be the most popular installer until firmware 2.0. But Installer 4.0 is due soon (or already out, can't remember) and it looks identical to the Apple app store, so it's bound to be popular again.
So for an end user, there isn't much difference at all. They grab the app and they install it. Some developers only have Cydia repos, others have only Installer repos, but I think most now host a repo for each one with the same content in each.

Aha I see. So for now its advisable to have both so you have th ebest of both worlds...

Yeah, if installer 4.0 is out then grab it. Cydia will be on by default after win Winpwn it.
I dunno if Installer's out yet. I haven't used my Touch in a few weeks. It lives in my car, hooked up to the head unit.

I don't think it's in stores yet, but you can order it online through the Apple store.

Cool.
Is it available in the Apple Retail Stores? Because there is one in Sydney.

I'm getting the iPhone when my contract runs out at the end of this month.
I am unsure what size to get, either the 8GB or the 16GB. I am not too keen on the white back with the 16Gb one, and the black back for the 8Gb looked pretty sweet.
I went on one in the Apple shop, and I was amazed at how quick the 'safari' was on it. I'm just hoping it is like that outisde the shop

I was going to do the exact same - wait for my 3 contract to run out and then gat the iPhone.
I don't know what I want to do now
I'm thinking of renewing my contract and upgrading to the Nokia N96 and get an iPod Touch 32GB
Decisions, decisions
