The *OFFICIAL* iPod / iPhone Thread
Thought I'd create a thread for all my, and anyone elses, iPod waffle
Ok, so I decided to pre-order the new 32GB iPod Touch, since I'd like to put videos on it as well as photos/music, so thought the more space the better Even though Im mainly going to be using it for E-mail/Internet and a few useful apps (wich is why I went for the Touch above other music players), both at home and work, I'll obviously also be putting my [small] music collection onto it. I also get a discount from Play.com, which kinda swayed it for me.
When it arrives the first thing I want to do is Jailbreak the thing. Ive jailbroken the iPhone before, but am a bit of a noob when it comes to the Touch. Ive had he 8GB Touch, which Ive just sold, and jailbroke that with ZiPhone, since it was using the older 1.1.4 firmware, so it was an easy process.
Anyhow, I want to use a more recent firmware with my new unit. How do I go about it?? So far Ive downloaded WinPwn, and also dwnloaded the iPod Touch 2.0.2 firmware. From what I understand WinPwn will do most of the work for me by creating a custom firmware for me to install on the iPod and so on?
Also, Ive downloaded 'Videora' to convert videos into the correct format for the iPod - has anyone had any experience with his program, and does it work properly etc??
Finally, once I have Installer and Cidia installed, which are the most useful programs to be looking out for?

I forgot to mention, I'll be needed something to charge the iPod when Im not at a PC or electrical socket. I know you can get small devices that use power from AA batteries to charge your iPod - any recommendations?

Hmm.. I'm not really sure, but do you have iPod speakers? I have some small ones that charge the iPod when it's plugged into the socket, I've never battery powered it but it probably charges it that way as well.
I love the iPod Touch, my faveorite little gadget by far! I picked up the 3g iPhone for the first time today, it's actually very very nice, feels really nice in ur hand and I didn't like the look of black plastic back at first, but that's really nice also. Deff getting one when my current contract runs out.

I prefer a plastic back rather then the steel back TBH. The steel back makes fingerprints stand out too much!
Do you keep yout iPod Touch's / iPhone's in a case or silicon cover?
