Def Techs are great. I would love to have a pair in my setup. My parent's living room sound system are from the ProCinema line and they sound great for being smaller bookshelves.
You should try to demo the 7002s or 7004s. Even the 7006s would be great. All three models are towers with built in subs(12s, 10s and 8s respectively). You don't necessarily need an external sub if you get these towers.
