I'm a little annoyed by the radscorpions and giant radscorpions that you find in the wide open wasteland. They are kind of hard to fight because they don't seem to have a week spot. Every Fallout 3 enemy has a weak spot, usually the head, but the radscorpions have their head as part of their body. Can someone please tell me the weak spot of the radscorpion so that so that they won't be "as annoying" as they are right now for me?

Man, i hate them suckers. Tail seems to be the weak spot, multiple strikes to the tail takes them down. I take the perk that gives 25% damage to mutated insects, that helps. Energy weapons and fire also work well, or for me anyway. I always carry the "Burnmaster" to cook-um up good.

FYI--Broken Steel(DLC) adds Albino Giant Radscorpians to the mix, they are truly annoying!

Shotgun.

That's the best way i found of disposing of them. Oh, and the usual grenades / mines. I think their underbelly is a weakspot.

the weak spot is the face, kind of a tiny space to hit, so use vats!
at distance, use a weapon where the bullets are accurate, energy weapons are quite good, the unique plasma rifle, but a hunting rifle or sniper work, vats the face (if it has its back to you, fire off a shot free aim to turn it round. but its better to wait for it to turn by itself, or re-position your self so you can hit its face. you do more damage when your crouched and hidden, than when the enemy is aware of you) then concentrate your fire, in vats, on its face.
close up, the shotgun (unique 'terrible shotgun') is about the best when facing anything, but very good for radscorps, and again, vats the face.
if for some reason you don't have action points to use vats, or cant get a shot in at the face, then the arms and legs are the next weak spot, you do something like 25 or 50% more damage to legs and arms, than you do to the body..

best way to tackle a radscorpion is from a distance

Personally, I've found that at a distance is ineffective, I rather attract his attention with a long distance shotgun blast, and shoot it when it is up close, all while backing up (no crouch, no vats). Usually 2-4 shotgun blasts, in the face, up close and that sucker is down.

Fallout 3 took me a solid...maybe 70-90 hours before i finally said I am fucking done with this game. Got mostly all the achievements, except the collecting bobble heads and all the "get to lvl X with X karma"

On radscorpions and the like, I enjoy using my flamer or heavy incinerator on the fuckers. They annoy the shit out of me and the greatest pleasure I could find was watching them burn. Just thinking about it is making me all happy.

the 'killing tecnique' above, is of course for the mirelurk, not the radscorpion!!!

tecnique for killing RADSCORPION

at a distance aim for the legs to cripple, and so avoid it getting near you with its sting. hopefully then you can take it out before it gets near.
close up, aim for the head, torso, or tail. the legs take 50% less damage than the rest of the body, it'll take twice as long to die using leg shots!!
