Can I use D pad on Xbox with Fifa 08?

I am an old playstation user and love Fifa 2008, but have heard that the D pad doesn't work for moving players you have to lose the toggle. Is that true?

If it is I have to buy a PS3 then.

u cant use the D-pad on ps3 or xbox. the dpad is used for tactics...... now i only have the 360 version, but i am almost 99.99% sure you cannot use the dpad anymore... and you should not base what console you get on using the d-pad or not... there is a tad bit more info u need to consider.

Your kidding you mean even on the PS# you can't use the D-Pad that sucks. I prefer that so much more for controller. The toggle just isn't as precise it is to erratic.

Bill your right. I looked up info on PS3 and same issue obviously a EAS thing.But I agree completely with the review:
The most annoying factor for me lies in the controls. Whilst switching between traditional FIFA or PES button controls is easy, FIFA forces you to use the analogue stick to control movement while the d-pad supports different on the fly team strategies such as attack or defend. I found the greatest strength of football games on the PS2 compared to other systems was the fact d-pad is so responsive. Here that is negated and the analogue stick feels more like you‘re moving Ronaldo using the latest Airbus take off gear. It would have been much easier to use the left stick for team commands and leave the d-pad for what it does best.

for me I will wait until this is fixed if not my time can be beter spent making music. As for Moses I am guessing from your respsonse your either a teenager or not well educated.

it's down the the fact that the characters, players ect on next gen consoles for any game move more freely. they don't just turn left right and backwards n forth..

anyway how can you use the d pad to play fifa..tha's stupid.

it is not something that can be "fixed"... this is apermanent part of the game.... it is an improvement... because with the d pad, you can go 4 directions... with the thumbstick, you have free movement.. much better... it takes more skill to use the thumbstick

try 8 directions....

and you never know, if enough people complain they could always release a patch or something... probably not gonna happen but hey
