Scoring first?
Whenever I play my friends over live, it seems whoever scores first goes on and wins convincingly. For example, yesterday for 3 games in a row my mate scores first. As soon as that happens none of my players seem to be able to string 2 passes together. My players can't even take a touch without being tackled. My defense completely becomes unorganised and I am torn apart, eventually losing 3-0. This isn't just because my friend is better than me, in the matches I score first I won 5-2 and 4-1. So why is it that the team that concedes first goes on to put in a woeful peformance for the rest of the match?

Maybe you are demoralized and play with a more rushed, impatient, or desperate style of play after you go down a goal. Once that leads to being down 2 goals, the cycle continues. That could be a reason why.

Agree with the above, sounds more to do with the way you play. Because the game wont work like that. Ive played so many games of fifa now, and ive had tons where i may be 2 or 3 - 0 down at half time and go on to win.
Your probably starting slow, passing about, taking your time, as soon as your mate scores, it makes you more hungry for a goal but not as patient as you need to be. Then the pitch starts opening up and they score more. Especially against mates, no one wants to lose to their mates. So thats it really.
The only thing ive noticed when playing friends are, sometimes its hard to beat them when they are certain teams, its probably jjst they are used to that team inparticular, but i once played online with a buddy of mine, he was Liverpool 3 times in a row, beat me each time, he chose another team, someone still very good like chelsea, barca etc, but i then beat him 3 times in a row. Odd really. (Personally i just think he was a Mr Torres boy!!!)
Anyway, have fun!!! Class game.

I probably am altering my style of play without realising it, but I thought there was some in-game moral/confidence/form system. When my team plays well im unstoppable (against my friends at least lol). But when im losing my team seems to get worse with every goal conceded.

This is probably true.
When im pissed off at FIFA I always play shitty, no matter how hard I try.
Unless going down a lose demoralizes your team? I doubt it, but just be calm and cool and you'll get a goal back.

I don't play Fifa often, but I play nba 2k9 alot and I notice that sometimes when my friend is making a run, I play more rushed and desperate. I end up making bad passes, poor shots, and end up getting blown out. There were times when I was in a good mood and I would not change my style of play no matter what I did. I would play patient and look for the extra pass and the best shot. That's usually when I catch up or play my best.
