make sure you have ABS (anti lock brakes) and TCS (traction control) ON! this is very important paticulary if your new to the game.
also put on the racing line... it'll change colour depending on your speed, when it changes to red on corners it means brake, when its green it means accelerate!
also check the AI difficulty isn't set too high... if your still having problems feel free to contact me on live (GT: Kitch88) and i'll try help some more!
good luck!

Just keep trying it and you will get there in the end.
It took me a little while to get used to the handling of the majority of the cars but once you have had a couple of laps on a difficult track then it starts to fall into place.
Even just have a good hour or so going through some tracks and powerful cars on the time trial section of the game, then when you come to the career you will be able to handle the lesser cars that are required at the beginning of the career.

Do as I did and race in exhibition first, then do the time trials.
The time trials alow you to drive a wide range of cars, and get you better at the lines / braking distances etc. it helped alot

Just practice and don't try and drive it like most car games. Its a sim style racer, so you cant get away going into a corner like you would with say PGR 4. I only bought this game recently and the first time i played it i went straight into a wall because i was playing it like i would pgr 4. Use the brake line assit as well. It tell you when you should brake harder or not.

just a question about tuning, do you always tune your cars as much you can? or is less sometimes more if you know what i mean?

I dont always tune them, but I do always upgrade the tyres and brakes first off.
Then I make the car lighter,
Then I start tuning.
I was struggling in a race to get higher that 3rd, so i went to the upgrades and brought a level one weight reduction, and I won the race next outting.
Small things will make a difference, thats why I love this game
practice makes perfect mate.
If you wanna practice racing online too, then add me to live

Tuning helps a lot in this game, i had a u999 ferrari f50t and was getting beaten from 0-200mph by a friends skyline R34. I had left mine standard and he had fiddled with his gear ratios; hence the reason he kicked my arse.
