when i was doing veteran, 90% of the time i was crouching (i usually stand up to run unless im being fired at)
I also didnt use smokes that much, used them alot with tanks but thats all.. Veteran was a lot easier then some people were saying it was.

I got one piece of advice! Use a smoke grenade when your using a machine gun emplacment. The enemy cant see you and you shoot off as many rounds as you want in any directions. Oh ya, watch out for enemies that creep up behind you!

Start on Veteran, I wish I did.

"Crouch as much as you can, the smaller your surface area exposed to your enemy, the less chance you have of being hit."
^^that's kinda common sense.... but great tips. i practice these skills(with some exceptions because i tend to run-n'-gun sometimes) even on the "hardened" difficulty.. i wish i would have started on Veteran because im flying through ^that difficulty... i plan on going back and playing the game on veteran but i have a feeling it wont be as exciting..

It will be, watch your gamerscore sky-rocket as you go through the campaigns. It's hard too, so you get a sense of achievement after spending the best part of half an hour dying. When you die and restart at a checkpoint just after the part you've being attacking over and over again it's like "YES!!!" lol

One thing to add, always reload while crouched or in your temporary hiding position. I can't tell you how many times i've had someone pop up on me and only had like 3 rounds in my machine gun If you stop, reload, reload before any new rooms.

You definately need to keep both guns reloaded at all times. I reload as much as possible. Also if you running low on ammo, grenades and smoke grenades then back track and find some. You can NEVER have enough...
