DOA 4 Sparring "While in Duck"

Hi. I've been having difficulty with the moves in sparring that require you to begin in a ducking position. Am I just supposed to do point the joystick in diagonal lower left/right and then do the move combination? That hasn't been working out for me. Is there an easier way to duck and perform these ducking combinations? Thanks

Edit: I've also tried the Down+Free, and am still having difficulty. Is a crouching guard the same as a duck?

Ok... after reading this, I went to my box and messed with it. The way to do it is get into a ducking position (using the blocking-duck is the easiest way, imo). Then, release the down button (and whatever other buttons you are using to duck) and go ahead with the combo. Right after you release the duck start the combo, it should register it. Good luck.

how do you counter attack in this?
and how do you unlock the characters?

you can unlock characters by beating the game with different characters, you dont usually unlock a character when you beat the game with someone but sometimes u do.

do couter attack press block and back at the same time for low attack counter its block+diagonal down back high counter block+diagonal up back

how do you press start at the title screen? i no this seems dumb but it isnt letting mr press start, is the press start sign on the screen supposed to flash? i have taken 3 games back and the woman behind the counter said that a lot of people said they have had this problem

ok, i have completed the game with all characters, but on the unlockables screen on the dashboard, it says i havent unlocked all the costumes can anybody help?
