frustrating cod4 level

I just bought cod4 and i plough through the campaign on hardened and i find this all relitively easy. suddenly at the end of mission 11, on shot one kill, you have to try and survive shitloads of enemies all running at you and helicopters dropping them in. all i have is a stpid sniper rifle and a PRD. i have tried this soooooo many times. there is no honest to god cover so they always end up coming up behind you and since its on hardened they kill you in like two shots. any tips on how to complete this mission anyone? cheers in advance.

I used the AK, instead of the sniper rifle the whole time.

Right.

You're given C4. Plant them all on the wooden fence, located right next to where the helicopter comes down to pick you up. (if you don't know, it's on a patch of concrete just behind the ferris wheel). Then run directly north (to the apartment blocks) and turn the corner. Wait here. They're too stupid to come around the corner, they'll just ignore you, despite being about 20ft away. Let your superior fight it out himself.. (Funny how he can take them all on huh?) wait about 4-5 minutes and the helicopter will land. Run out the corner and when you see the chopper blow your c4, this will kill probably about 10 bad guys. Pick up the cripple, and leg it back to the chopper.

May take a couple of tries, as they usually get you as you're running back to the chopper with captain 1 leg on your back.

Vet mode is pretty challenging--I just started the game and the part of evading the ship before it sinks is pretty intense!!!! I'm rocking it on my new 42 IN PLASMA and the chopper scene where GAZ is smoking the Cigar is SICK!!! I'm hoping I made the right choice by puttong down Assassins Creed for COD4!!! I'll be doing Live tonight--Been out of LIVE for about 3 wks and man I AM JONESIN.

Here's what I did - There is a large tree next to where your superior is sniping. Plant as much claymore in a circle around this tree, with you in the centre. Try to plant a second ring of claymore as well. Then duck by this tree until the helicopter comes.

on veteran, you will get picked off easily though!!!
