Smile Assassin's Creed - Help/Advice/Tips

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips for playing Assassin's Creed?

I'm currently on my second assassination, working my way through Acre. The simple fact I'm IN the Town is merely by a glinch as I have been unable to save the initial citizen and get in! After being killed 12 times, I gave up, switched off the game...only to find, when I next went to play, it started me from inside the Bureau.

I'm having the following difficulties -

1) Stealth Assassinations - I've pulled off stealth attacks in the past but now I'm finding that when I try to lock on to my target, I'm spotted and surrounded!! On average I approach in Blend, which I have to release in order to Lock on...once locked on, I blend once more and slowly approach. I can get close to my target but as soon as I go to strike, I'm spotted and they counter!! What am I doing wrong?

2) Saving Citizens - It seems I can only save about half the amount. This is somewhat in conjuction with the previous one. I've been trying to use a Stealth attack to take down one man, however, they spot me and swarm me. I've tried the gun ho approach and stormed in, sword swinging and slicing...only to get the same result (fleeing for my life...or losing it!!)
Any advice?

3) Free running/Escaping - When trying to escape multiple attackers, I find it really difficult to escape...there can be a clear exit right in front of me...but despite my commands to run, he stands and 'fights'. I assumed this was down to being 'locked on'...so I made a point of pressing LT before attempting to peg it. No difference! It's a little big-headed of me to say this but I can't see that I'm pressing the wrong command...It's my favourite one!! What other factors could be involved?

4) Informers - Is that even the right term?? The ones who appear on the GPS as an 'i'? I understand they require you to perform certain things before they give you any information but...how do you interact with them in the first place? Normally, I get hints or alerts to say I can interact with someone...Have I got the wrong person or am I being blind?

I've found lots of advice about using the short blade. How do I select it if left if long sword, up is hidden blade, down is fists and left is throwing knives?

Any further advice for beating up multiple attackers would be greatly received - I've done the fighting tutorials and been alright but now damage is involved, I'm a dead man!!

Thanks muchly!

Its best just to walk up to them (not in blend) and use assassinate on one, then just use counter-attacks. Btw, little tip here, if you see a flag before you get into a fight, get to it later when you have low sync, because it restores your sync to full.

Again, just use counter-attacks. Later you get defense break which is really useful.

I'm afraid this is just one of the annoying factors of the game. I usually just try not to get into fights, and when I do, finish it (or at least the first group) and run to a roof garden/haystack.

I think you mean interrogations, if that is the one where you beat them until they give you information. You can do this in front of a crowd/guards if you like, as no NPCs (except Thugs) intervene. I still find it best to follow them to a secluded place. You lock onto them, and a short cut scene plays, and then you follow them.

About the short blade, I haven't a clue.

Also, I'd advise you to start in Jerusalem rather than Acre, its a lot easier I found.

Hope I helped you

Jake

1. When I performed the stealth assassinations, TBH I rarely locked on to my target. I just went into blend, got close to the target (usually behind the target not in front) and then assassinated. Always worked for me. Never found anything hard about it. You dont have to lock on to kill the target. Be aware that after te assassination all guards that see you will be after you, whether you blend or not, until you make it back to the bureau.

2. When it came to saving citizens, I always used the same technique. Run up to the guards, yes run. Dont bother blending etc. Run up to them and perform a high profile assassination, by pressing the right trigger and the X button when you reach a guard. Since you need to kill all the guards in the area whether they see you kill the first guard doesnt matter.
This gets rid of the first guard quick and easy. As soon as you have done this, pull out you sword. Remember to defend attacks. For the first half of the game you can just go i guns ablazing and keep smashing X and its easy to kil them all. Later in the game as the guards get tougher, you counter attack their moves. Again, not very difficult to kill them.

3. When you are in a fight and want to run away, if Altair is walking slowly and is in fight mode, its usually because he is locked on to a target. If this is correct just press the LT button to unlock, and then start running. He should begin running away, and you can free run etc to get away as normal.
Dont just press LT before you run for the hel of it, as if you arent locked on then you will be now!! Try running first. If you cant, then unlocka nd try again.

4. Yes informares have the 'i' on the map. When you find one press LT to 'lock on' to the informer. This then starts the conversation and you get your mission objective - either collecting flags (which requires good free running) or assassinating targets (which requires good stealth and good timing).

You shouldn't need cheats, it's not a very hard game
