Alone in the Dark Help?

Stuck in the museum, a little while after you revive sarah and climb up the cable.. reh reh reh just after you see the closed off room full of ratz nest. I burned them, opening up the gate only to find another with a short cutscene showing one of the ratz running out of a vent to feed on blood on the floor? Clearly the nest in the distance is blocking a trip laser preventing the gate being opened, and i have a feeling i need to combine tape with a flammable bottle, pierce the bottle with a knife and throw it onto the rat till it gets to the nest and then set light to the trail all the way to it. Can anyone confirm what the hell to do on this part, as i only thought of that method after i got bored of trying and turned it off lol??

I got bored of this game after climbing up that cable, using torched furniture to reach the caretaker before the woman got posessed, I beat the bitch, burned her body and switched the game off because it's shite! best thing you've done! remove game, return to shop and buy a game worth playing. Hope this helps!
