garage glitch

While playing test drive unlimited, I took a 5th car to one of my homes with only a four car garage. When I went into the garage all 5 vehicles were there. Is this a glitch? Or, is capacity based on the total number of garage spaces in all your properties combined? My other home can hold six vehicles. I have a total of 4 cars and one bike.
