GTA - Final Destination Mission

I am totally loving GTA but am having trouble with one on the early missions. I know what I need to do, but when Lenny escapes over to the other side of the railway track Niko always seems to loose him, I have done this mission I dont know how many times now, does anybody have any tips on how to complete it, as Lenny always seems to compete it, as he always seems to escape in his car.

By the way, I new to GTA, and have only just bought the game.

You need to get rid of the two guys that start shooting then chase Lenny. If he gets into acar you have to get into one and chase him. I think it only takes a few shots and his car will blow up. Not sure though done it ages ago.
