^^ Dude is the gears of war fanbase not just as big?? there are still a ton of people that play gears online! and it was super popular! And over the time it has been out it has gained alot more fans. I think YOU underestimate the Gears fanbase!

^^I'm with Andrew.
The Xbox fanbase for Halo is insane, it's a cultural phenomenon that is on ONE console, not multiplatform.
However, Gears has sure made a name for itself, so I guess it could happen. It only has 18 months of clout behind it though, and the graphical updates are only spotty (it's better overall but it's nowhere NEAR the graphical update from H1 to H2 or H2 to H3).... 3 years between equals will surely produce better graphical results than 2 years (GoW).
I am so stoked for GoW2 though... especially that they are fixing the probs that GoW1 was PLAGUED with!

Dude, there is still thousands of people that play Halo 2 online daily...There is no way that the Gears of War fanbase is just as big as Halo. It is just not possible.

^^ Well i guess we will find out then. And Jesus still playing Halo 2?? Get with the program people!!! lol but seriously though i think the gears fanbase has grown considerably since it came out. I know a bunch of guys i work with didnt become fans of Gears until prob a year after its release. i convinced most all the guys in the shop to get it and everyone of them loved it! Word of mouth man it works wonders!

See my above post for sources. These numbers are from the last 5 months, and in fact, the GoW number is 1 month newer than the Halo3 number.
I'm not here to discuss fanbase, it's clear that Halo's fanbase is bigger and more devoted. Smaller fanbase and all, GOW2 is gonna ROCK! I can't wait!

The Halo fanbase is currently bigger, but watch what will happen when Gears 2, and Gears 3 pop along. Its the next big franchise for MS.
If Gears doesnt beat Halo3, I'll give Andrew a big sloppy............ 
I personally think Gears beats the shit out of Halo - but thats just my opinion. Halo is still a great game for its time, but Gears will dominate.

All sounds very promising except i for 1 would like to see more that 5 0n 5 in multiplay.
8 on 8 or more would be amazing.
surely the uneal engine 3 can handle more than 5 on 5.
