I don't get it!
I know I'm gonna get mocked, but what is with all the hype. I know this game is meant to be the dogs bollocks and I probably will get it, but what is meant to be soo good about it? It just doesn't look appealing!
Is there anyone else on this forum who feels the same way?

Graphically speaking, I have read that this game is supposed to be quite nice. I think that's one of the things that people are so looking forward to. Thus far, the games on the 360 look nice....but nothing is really blowing us away. I think the hope is that this will be the game to do so.
Personally, I'm not one that gets too hyped up over any game. It always seems so much better when people are talking about it and it's not yet out. So, I guess in a way I'm in the same "i don't get it" camp that you are in.
I remember when Dead Rising came out. I had been reading about how awesome it was on these forums and I was really starting to get interested in playing it. I then downloaded the demo and was just disspointed in a big way. This is not to say that DR is not a good game, but it is not a game for me. Also tried demo of Saints Row and felt exactly the same about that game as well.

Finally someone who's seeing in the same light I am. Also it doesn't look like the type of game I would just be able to pick up and play, although I am looking forward to seeing whether or not it is as good as everyone says its gonna be. I think the part that will win it for people is the online play.

I think that is a big part of the picture as well. With having a full time job and a kid, I don't get much time for playing video games. I probably play 2-4 hours a week on average. So for me, I don't get too many games because I simply cannot find the time to play them all. I like games that are not too involved and easy to remember controls, because I will turn them on, play for 20-30 minutes and then have to walk away. Then I might not come back for a week or two.

For me its the rich story that theyre conveying with this game. The characters all have a history, and the atmosphere of the game looks really cool. Ive only read impressions from IGN and so far this looks like itll be the game to get this holiday season (for 360) of course.

i was thinking the same thing at first.
The reason i will be getting it is because of the amazing graphics and the storyline.

CoD3 will be great, too, but Gears looks simply amazing. If the single player mode isn't enough to get you excited, the multiplayer (which really makes you play as a team) should.
Grapically, it's amazing. The visuals alone would sell half a million copies, but the gameplay looks extremely tight. And as everyone else has said, the storyline appears to be the backbone that'll sell the other half million or so.
