Gears vs GEars 2

which one is bettter? i know gears of war 2 is newer, but a friend i talked to said that there are really only GoW1 sniper battles.

I have both but enjoyed gears 1 better. Gears 1 runs smoother and has better graphics imo, I love the textures. I like the shotgun and sniper way more in gears 1 and the maps are significantly smaller. That being said gears 1 is basically dead online now so you would get your moneys worth with gears 2. While I believe gears 2 isnt better than the first, I have still put in countless hours in it online and the Campaign was amazing and didnt feel like a chore compared to gears 1.

The pros of both games in my view..

gears 1 = better online system ( lobby etc , much faster ),better contrasted character models ( character models look to light in gears 2,looks terrible compared to gears 1 imo,even though gears 2 has more details ), cheaper ( I see some VERY cheap now days ), better online campaign co op ( you can choose which campaign from a list to join, in gears 2 your automatically added to one ), less texture popin with the graphics compared to its older sibling. Still has people playing ( I can start an online game faster than I can in gears 2 )

gears 2 = better online maps ( by miles,also due to the fact the good gears 1 maps got updated as DLC for gears 2 anyway ),better multiplayer modes ( horde! ),more effects on screen,technically better graphics ( U3 Engine being pushed HARD ),better looking environments ( slighty,technically its better, but gears 1 is still pure quality,due to the game being VERY short ) , longer game, better DLC, has offline BOTS! ( my favourite option,as I play splitscreen with my girlfriend in Annex, seriously when the matchmaking in gears 2 sucks as it does most of the time, I have MUCH more fun versing bots on the harder levels, fun stuff )

I agree, and how the hell did you get your girlfriend to play Gears 2 lol
