The game overall is great, but does muliplayer live up to your expectations?

its amazingly fun with friends on free mode, just holding up a bridge against a 6 star wanted level etc. and hten bombing of with 5 of you in a bus trying to escape before the driver gets caped and u swerve off into the river and get gunned down by police boats, and team deathmatch is pretty fun with mates or online if the server settings are good. gotta have near spawning and no auto aim with loads of traffic and no cops then its pretty chaotic and fun otherwise you spawn to far away and spend your self running around tooling up for 5mins then running around finding people to fight for another 5mins. tbh reading all the reviewes and previews about cops n crooks and everything i expected a lot more. its fun but not the police roadblock making heat style shootouts taking place fun that i read about.

Most fun I've had in multiplayer so far is racing, that shit gets intense, especially with everyone driving Turismos and Infernos. But TDM has the funniest crap, like once there was a guy coming at me in a taxi and I shot a rocket at him and he flew up and rammed my face at 90 mph

I don't think you're ever going to be satisfied.

The MP is not perfect, but it actually works a lot better than I thought it would. It runs very smoothly for the most part, and the graphics don't take much of a hit at all. I thought it would be nothing more than a hood ornament on a very superb SP game, but instead it provides an extremely fun diversion and a chance to tear shit up with friends (I actually know people that haven't touched the SP yet).

I think some folks are forgetting how much time, effort and of course money went into creating the graphics engine, innumerable models, storyline, licensing and integrating music, original humor.... jeez the list just goes on. If it was primarily a MP game, then it would probably have most of the things you want with it.

I can't stand people whining about "oh I wish this part was more like halo3 or CoD4 blah blah blah". I applaud R* for trying something different, even if may require an extra 5 second load time. I also really like how you can roam the party area while gathering friends. Much more fun than just sitting in a lobby talking.

Gaming revolutions don't happen from copying other designers and saying "Oh, well this worked so well for them, let's just be unoriginal and mimick it".
