WTF is up with the "No-Planes"!!!

Got GTA 4 at the weekend and was casually enjoying a couple of playful drive-by's and beatings when I stumbled upon the airport on the map (How the fuck can you miss it)

So I decided I'll go see what the guys at Rockstar had done to make a nice little sonder in the sky a bit better? I went up to get in a plane and pressed Y. It didn't work!!! I got scared. I pressed it again and he started chasing an airport vehicle. (Stupid Russian Prick) I went online to check WTF was up and to my horror and disgust I discovered they made sure you couldn't get in planes to make it supposedly more "realistic"???

Anyway was just wondering if anyone had any idea if they were going to bring out a possible update to enable us to fly and maybe one to allow us to customize cars for christ-sake!!!

I'm not sure exactly what benefit having planes would have had anyway, but I was always under the impression there were no planes for obvious reasons. Whether that's true or not I don't know, possibly not, but ultimately it's irrelevant when it comes to whether we actually needed them or not. San Andreas was a different place compared to one city, albeit a big one.

Ya plans would of made the game much more realistic. And besides even if you got one where would you land it?

Fly back to the airport? There would be no point.

I get your point but It would still make it a bit more fun?

They could make an update for new airport? Or maybe a long flat strip on another island?

If you want planes and customiseable cars go play San Andreas, sorted. It doesnt need either of them.

yea, i'm just fine with helicopters. it would be terribly hard to fly/land in liberty city

The lack of planes was confirmed months before the game came out. It's one of the missing features I actually think should of been left out. The city is way too dense for planes to be practical. Plus, they're making enough of a controversy without having planes in NYC.

I think the planes should be added in DLC.
