GTA 4 better than San Andreas?
tbh i prefer San Andreas, maps alot bigger and you can do alot more. I'm pleased with the missions but very dissapointed with stuff like not being able to fly planes, buy houses etc

No way. GTA IV is better in my opinion.
Rockstar warned that with GTA4 they'd be growing up and utilising a more realistic approach with the game, which they did and it's an amazing addition.
The things you've named to be able to do in San Andreas were just unnecessary and quite boring at times. Although I will admit that the 'sandbox' feature of the GTA series is a bit sparse in number 4.
Nonetheless, great gameplay, great graphics, great physics, great characters and story = Greater game.

The best thing about San Andreas was the fact that it had open country. I used to play it everyday pretending to go on a hunt for Bigfoot in my monster truck.. even though there wasn't one anyways

I play Forza2 and FIFA a lot now, whereas I'm already at the stage with GTAIV that I can't even be bothered to do missions.
Any time I play GTAIV, I just switch off Niko's phone and rampage about the city....
EDIT: Although, in fairness, SA's map was too big and full of worthless countryside.
IV is just big enough.

Tbh I think, planes would ruin GTA4 I don't really see the point I think helicopters are much better, Gta4 is much better as they have better graphics more better missions it even has online mode which is new for GTA and works perfectly well more funnier characters better weapons or maybe I should admit that they could have more weapons involved in GTA4.
So i give marks out of 10 for San Andreas 7/10 GTA4 9/10

The Gta4 story I feel is better and the missions are a little better, but I don't think I'm as addicted to GTA4 as I was in San Andreas.

GTA IV > SA. By far.

What an original thread, I'm surprised no one thought of this before.
I actually tried going back to play San Andreas a few days ago, and -- to say the least-- the experience did not hold up very well. Still a fun game, but doesn't compare to GTAIV in terms of sheer enjoyability.
