The ironic thing about that statement, Dark, is SOOo many people said that ALL that Halo2 and 3 were was a GRAPHICAL update. Did you read much of the article?
Some of my favorite quotes:
Quote:
|
There is an exodus of sorts and the culmination of seven years worth of evolution in Halo multiplayer is in question - perhaps even in jeopardy.
|
I agree. The king of Live is no longer the king.
Quote:
|
How had Bungie tapped into a fleshy pulse - that living catalyst - which drove gamers to unflinchingly dedicate the last seven years of their lives to a single franchise.
|
I am one of those gamers. Since the first days.
Quote:
|
So then, it was no surprise that when Bungie sat down to look at Halo 3’s multiplayer, they developed solutions for many of these complaints. Halo 3 represents the bulk of those solutions made manifest and the multiplayer beta months before the game’s release proved this to everyone who was afforded an opportunity to play. It appeared as though Bungie had listened to the fleshy pulse of their fan base and were making amends.
|
Bungie is the most active dev team in their community that has ever made a video game.
Quote:
|
These [Legendary mappack] maps will be the crucible, the fulcrum - they’ll be the determining factor on the game’s ability to once again retain its presence in a year which will not only see entrenched Call of Duty 4 fans but also the second coming of Epic’s Gears of War franchise.
|
It's a tough order....
Quote:
|
No, this is not a denigration of the competition or a demand for Halo to dominate the leaderboards on Xbox Live as it did with Halo 2, but something has happened in the Halo community, something critical and alarming. Our brothers in arms have left their first love for another. If these maps and those which follow fail to recapture the fans who’ve become disenchanted, then Halo 3’s multiplayer may well be at an end.
|
I want my brothers in arms back....
Quote:
|
If they succeed, however, this will ignite the fleshy pulse buried in the lifeblood of the community. Members both new and old - both loyal and prodigal - will grab their battle rifles from the shelves and wage war. If downloadable content can resolve the problems we’ve discussed, Halo 3 will once again regain the glory of the franchise.
|
Come home, prodigal fans! LOL

Those people must have cerebral paulsy - Halo 2 and 3 don't play ANYTHING like the original. The FOV is smaller, the health system isn't there, the classic, more powerful weaponry is missing...
Before you talk go play an actual LAN party with 15 other people to refresh your memory... Halo CE is the best of them all.
Also, Bungie is one of the most detached developers I know of. Disregard your MLG fans and make a game like Halo 2, why don't you?
Epic Games is by FAR the most involved developer. Seriously - they are great.

Don't talk to me about LAN parties, and DONT tell me not to talk.
Ask the members here named QUEUEBIT or Hs_Zion... I had LAN parties of up to 40 people, 20 xboxes and MULTI networks. I have played all 3 games, and been a fan since the very beginning. So why again can't I talk? lol
EDIT: How in the world is Bungie the most removed? Would love some good evidence.

Go play another one to refresh your memory, m8. Halo CE plays NOTHING like its counterparts.

@ Dark, this is all off topic. Did you read the article? At LAN parties, we go back and forth between all 3 of the Halo games. Halo:CE is the most nostalgic for sure. Gameplay wise, they get better each installment.

@ Dark...My Halo memory is not only photographic, it's immaculate... it doesn't need refreshed. LOL I can tell you the ins and outs of every game, man. I don't need to go play Halo:CE to see that your remarks are opinionated and that's ok with me. THey are your opinions.

LOL I worked hard at posting it all in context, rather than just posting a link. When someone reads it, let's discuss!
EDIT: It was much more than a copy/paste to get all the line breaks and all the images in place. LOL
EDIT2: It's a long article, I don't expect good conversation based on it to happen for quite some time. I would rather have some IN CONTEXT discussion than we have had though. I think it's a well written article about the evolution of the series.
EDIT3: I was re-reading the thread, and Dark, I think I need to apologize.... I meant that ALOT of people say that they are graphical upgrades (the sequals)... I am NOT one of those people. LOL I can see the fundamental differences in all 3 games in terms of physics, sandbox, gameplay mechanics, and more. LOL I think this caused our misunderstandin..

Ok, Tufo, lets play ball.
I think Halo 2 was toned down to fit new players too much. What do you think?

This might be due to the fact that, because of the new online functionality, many of the mechanics had to become more forgiving to accommodate general latency issues amongst the host-client setup in LAN and matchmade games. i.e.-the melee seemed waaayyy different.
Otherwise, the exclusion of fall damage could be seen as a way to noob it down, as well as fully regenerating health/shields.
imho on all of that though, it made for better LAN parties and online play the way it played in Halo2. Of course, all the nostalgia is still in Halo1 though!
to Dark: I think that Halo2 SERIOUSLY lacked in the "vehicles" department, whereas 1 and 3 shine here. Thoughts?
