If you have friends who still play Halo 3 and will play with you then definitely get it.

But I'll try and give you the most unbiased opinion I can give.

Halo 3 is a great game if you are into FPS's although it is not the best, it is still good. The story was good, but I also played the other 2 games. Controls are easy to get used to. Multiplayer is good for the first month or two, but then it gets really repetitive unless you are playing with friends or something like that. I have to admit though, the multiplayer modes are good, for example "Team Swat", "MLG", "DLC", "Big Team", and of course things like Double EXP Weekends where you have Infection, Grifball, Swat, Cinco De Mayo, etc.

Its major downfall is it's longevity. I beat it on Normal firs time through then on Legendary with 3 other friends. I also played multiplayer for some time and liked it. What really brought me back to the game for about a month or two was Forge and Custom games. Games like Omega Journey, FatBoy, Stadium, and other custom maps are very fun for quite awhile, if you're not the zombie xD

Now, let's compare it to CoD4. Call of Duty 4's campaign is short and will not last your nearly as long as Halo 3's campaign due to Legendary and Co-op, which CoD4 lacks. But where CoD4 really pulls ahead is in multiplayer. CoD4 never keeps you bored on multiplayer, you have 10 prestiges to go through, each with 55 levels. Great amount of weapons, add-ons, and perks with keep the game interesting. Lots of modes, even more than Halo 3's online. Things like Search and Destroy are addicting and fun, and even once you get bored of those you cna move onto Hardcore modes which take away most of the HUD, turns on friendly fire, and removed the radar that shows people when they shoot. This makes the game much more skill related, even though CoD4 online is heavily skill related, with the exception to the noob tube and jugernuat users

Since you said you haven't played the other 2 Halo's, the campaign wont be that great to you, or even maybe not good at all. Most of the appeal in the Halo single player is the story...not so much the game play as it gets very generic. Multiplayer can last you a range from 1-6 months. Of course 6 months would be real dedication. I liked the game and spent around 2-3 months on it, then later came back to it for about 1-2 months for a total playtime of 3-5 months. Also note I have alot of friends that play Halo, and if you dont you might not stay as long.

Overall, if you can find it for a cheap price (Under 20$) buy it, since renting it is almost half of that anyways (For like 4-5 days). If you cant find it for that cheap, save up for UT3 or something. Btw, I compared it to CoD4 since it is it's leading competitor and since you have CoD4 you can compare your interests.

PS: Now Halo fanboys cant complain I said "Lolz, play cod4 instead!!11!!one!!". Because that was a long ass post.

Great post +rep!

I think I'll give it a miss, thanks for that though.

It's a good game Chelsea, but if your going to be starting the MP as a 'noob' then it can get quite frustrating.
Playing the MP with people who literally shove their knobs through the disc hole is so fucking annoying. Running after them whilst they are jumping about and shitting out power drains, nades and fuck knows what else can get annoying you know.

Aside from that though I would get the game, I wouldn't say it is as good as the COD4 MP experience you are used to, but it is most definitely worth a shout.

If you are expecting it to be like COD4 though in terms of the MP your going to be dissapointed. It has a lMP ife span of about 3 months max, all I want to do is the campaign on Legendary and then I am going to trade it in for either COD5 or GoW2

Firstly, nice subtle dig at me.

Next, that's the most biased post I have seen. All of that is in your opinion. You can't say "multiplayer will last you 1-6 months" because that's just bullshit. Think about how long Halo has been out and there are still many people playing it.

I love COD4, but Halo takes more skill. There is a no radar playlist for Halo, just like COD4, it's called MLG. Plus, friendly fire is always on.

In other words Chelsea Lad, get the game!
