I don't think Bungie has ever confirmed the name "mythic" or "elite"... and purple reign is the only map that THEY have hinted at thus far..

Do Standoff, Avalanche, and Ghost Town appear in non-ranked big team social games? I still have as of yet to see Cold Storage; which playlists can I find matches on that map?

Not very often. They have DLC Slayer and DLC Objective dedicated to playing all the new DLC maps... if you want to play the new ones.. just go in there.

Here are the details of social big team.. you'll notice that the Legendary mappack is not REQUIRED, but if everyone has it, you can get a map from it (i.e. avalanche or ghost town)...

Gametypes

* Team Slayer (35.7%) - First team to 100 kills wins. Battle Rifle Starts with Assault Rifle secondary weapons. 15 minute match time.
* Multi-Flag CTF (23.8%) - Both teams battle to capture each other's flags. First team to three flags wins. Battle Rifle starts with Assault Rifle secondary wepaons. 20 minute match time.
* Neutral Bomb Assault (12.6%) - Players vie over a single bomb, attempting to detonate the bomb in the opposing team's base. First team to three detonations wins. Battle Rifle starts with Assault Rifle secondary weapons. 20 minute match time.
* VIP (16.1%) - One player on each team is designated "VIP." Score points by killing the opposing team's VIP. First team to 10 points wins. 15 minute match limit.
* Territories (11.9%) - Teams take turns defending and claiming territories. The team with the most territories claimed after two rounds wins. Battle Rifle starts with Assault Rifle secondary weapons. Five minute rounds.
