Just in case you weren't keeping (weekly) track of the most played games of 2008, our pal Major Nelson thought he'd do the community a service by listing the Top 20 Live Games of 2008, based on Live connectivity over the course of the past 52 weeks. We copied 2008's top five 360 games below, because we can, but you can view a listing of 2008's twenty most played games after the jump. For those who are interested in XBLA and original Xbox 2008 stats, Major posted those as well. Congrats to Halo 3, Castle Crashers and Halo 2 for being so darn popular.

Yep the first two I played the most out of 2008. Halo 3 the most out of the year followed by Call of Duty 4. Congrats to Bungie and Infinity Ward for creating such awesome games.

LOL All the other games in that list only have a chance to be IN that list because of Halo. If it wasn't for Halo 1 and 2, the Xbox would have been a miserable failure and we would all be playing Playstations (thus, no 360).. heck, Xbox BARELY survived the PS2 era.....
If Xbox would have failed, we wouldn't even be here. Sony would have ruined gaming for everyone by now.. LOL

Whoa whoa...let's not get ahead of ourselves now Tufo. There were other great Xbox exclusives, it wasn't just Halo that kept the system alive.

No, it wasn't. There was a combination of several things, software and hardware wise. It was not just Halo. Anyone that actually believes that is ignorant.

No offense but I don't see a lot of people playing Halo on my friends list, I don't see how it's number one.

Yesterday there was 20,000 people in MLG playlist alone.. thats at times almost as high as WaW's total players.
