Is it too much to ask?
That people treat things that aren't theirs with respect?

Saturday night I rented Crackdown from my local rental place. Tried to play it and noticed there were some freezing issues with the game. Since I had some house projects to get to, I didn't put too much thought behind it until tonight when I had some free time to finally sit down and play it. Turned on the 360 and the dashboard said 'play DVD'. Thought 'goody' and popped the tray open. Took a look at the back of the disc and it had the Ring of Death around the outer edge. I took it back to the video store and told them it wasn't working. Immediately got the 3rd degree from the counter employee as to why I waited two days to bring it back and how I was so positive it didn't work. God forbid I have things to do that keep me from immediately discovering that a game doesn't work.
Showed the disc to the employee and identified the ROD to him. Wanted to know if MY 360 has done this to other games, which it hasn't. He told me that it was impossible that any of their games was damaged since they routinely check them all to which I responded that they must have missed one since this one doesn't work. He sniffs and checks for another copy, which they have. Logs into my account and tells me because of my history, I have to pay for the damaged copy. "Excuse me, come again"? Counter-Jockey tells me that because I have a "Return History" (and he made the quote marks with his fingers too), I have to pay for the game since it's obvious I'm damaging their games. I tell him to can his bullshit and get his manager out to the desk before I put him through a window.
A little clarification - maybe it's bad luck, but when I rent games from this place, I seem to get the ones that were checked out to mindless little 13-year olds who apparently let their pets use them as toys. I've had both PS2 and Xbox/360 games with major scratches, cracks and Rings on them. Normally I get them back to the store within an hour or so. This time it took me a little bit longer. Anywho, the manager comes out and wants to know what the problem is. I explain the situation. He wants to know where I'm getting the idea of paying for the game from. Point at the Counter-Jockey. He tells me not to worry about anything, says that Counter-Jockey will be taken care of and hands me another copy.
All this because I'm a person that doesn't want someone to pay for something and not have it work. I really wish that people would not abuse games just because they aren't theirs.

Hollywood Video. I haven't rented from Blockbuster since the age of 12, when one of their employees called our house at about 11:30 in the evening screaming that I stole a Shadows of the Empire instruction booklet. My mom took the game back and said that it had been in the box, so it was their mistake.

This thread should really be in chit chat.
Nevertheless I would check the game in the store before you take it in future.
What happened when you spoke to the manager by the way? You should have waited by the carpark for that employee and kicked his nuts in

I agree, he was completely out of order.
If he even tried to press charges on you, you would have a solid case and any decent judge would clear you straight away.

Sorry officer he just fell into my boot and I didnt even realise, I just thought it was the shopping rolling around and making the banging noises, as for the bruising he has.. well it is a small boot after all..
