NHL08 Roster question

I have had the game for about a month now and I don't play online so I don't use the roster update from Live. I have a few created players and tend to make roster changes myself but I noticed on the '08 that everytime I make the changes both players and complete rosters disappear from the game. I have tried doing this 4 times now and every time I turn the game off and turn back on their are players missing from teams and even full rosters completely gone. I save the rosters and everything and I can't figure out why it does this. I have a 256 MB card that I use...could this be the problem?

Can anyone tell me why this does this?
