Why 360 games wont look much better, yet

Anyone remember when the Xbox launched? The games WERE a leap forward, but nothing compared to what they are now. Ive read a few articles saying "the games dont look much better than the current ones, WTF!" Thats the way it is, the developers need to tool around on the hardware for a while. It usually takes about a year to reach the full potential of the hardware, I believe the Xbox STILL hasnt reached it.

Well we have not seen any games being played on the 360 yet!

But the games are a huge leap forward.

In game graphics are hard to tell apart from movie scenes! But like you said, in the next 6 - 12 months time, they should be some great games out there for the 360!

Look how much different Halo 2 looks from Halo 1. They have to learn how to actually use the hardware. The companies look at how their games are reviewed and then use the sick hardware to make them better.

agreed, i was speaking to somebody tonight and he said that the screenies for some of the new games on 360 look the same as ps2/xb... which to a degree some i can understand... but i pointed out to him that when the ps2 came out... look at some of those launch games (timesplitters for e.g.) and now look at say gt4... a huge leap! so now look at the pgr3 screenies and then think about 4 years in the future.... its basically going to be jaw dropping really

i wont expect to start seeing the true performance coming to us in games for around 2 years tbh!

As for the topic, I agree. It takes a long time to get to grips with new engines etc and get 100% out of it. They'll look great, but nothing compared to what they will in 2yrs.

Have you seen the Oblivion in game graphics? Man I was not going to get a 360 until I saw that game now I'm spending 586 smackers on this thing. The new Call of Duty looks amazing as well I think these are definetly way next-gen

Yeah, the dungeon where you start off in Oblivion looks so amazing. You're in your jail cell with human skulls and bones everywhere and that chain that you can walk into moves so realistically. Then you walk up to the old, rusty, locked up cell door and a man tells you to go sit back down.

I really should've pre-ordered this. I'll find it at Target probably anyway so don't worry.
