Should I get it...?

I'm a big fan of RPGs, so I took at look at this game. The thing is, out of all the scores the game received, the average is 79%. That isn't exactly a strong score, so I'm debating whether or not the game is worth the price.

Rent it and try it its turn based and its not everyones type of game. Just have to try it and see if you like it.

I got stuck on disc 1 and couldnt continue. Luckly I was borrowing it from a friend. If you dont level up your guys high in the beginning you'll run into trouble later on. Lots of strategy needed in this game.

I ignore game scores unless they're under 50%. If this is a 79% then its a 79% above some rated 90%+.

Its a turn based RPG much like Final Fantasy I-IX. Matter of fact, made by the same guys. I think it's something like 60hrs+ of gameplay. Has a bunch of cut scenes for you to watch, basically its a film you help direct. You dont have to be familiar with the game style as it teaches you. Im not a huge fan of the genre but, Ive been thoroughly enjoying this game as of yet, Im on disc 3.

This game is a great buy for RPG fans. I have been a huge fan of RPG's and being mainly a Sony supporter in the past, I have actually purchased a 360 Elite for the primary purposes of RPG's and some other games.

Lost Odyssey may not have amazing scores on metacritic or other websites, but review scores are really just opinions of some game journalist. Review scores are not objective ways to measure how great a game is. They are merely opinions of people who work for gaming publications or websites. They are not necessarily more or less credible than the opinion of someone on the forums here or elsewhere.

My RPG background consists of Breath of Fire series, Final Fantasy Series, XenoGears, XenoSaga, Tales Series, Mana, Chrono-Trigger/Cross, Dragon Quest, and many others I cannot list out.

I am 50% through the game. From where I stand, I love the game. I would give it a 90/100 and the reasons for that are as follows:

Pro's:
*Interesting storyline (A bit cliche, but different from others for sure)
*Great graphics (Possibly the best for an RPG I have seen besides Mass Effect)
*A lot of customizations (rings, skills, skill-links, forging, formations, etc)
*Likable characters (some other RPG's that I wont name right now have had very unlikable, generic characters)

Con's:
*Random battle system can be annoying when trying to solve the numerous puzzles in the game.
*Game relies heavily on attack and heal magic and less so on regular attacks.

That is my 2 cents.

I've never played a turned base RPG, but LOVED Oblivion and Mass Effect...

I checked out the reviews for this, and thought it looked great. The story seemed amazing. But I'm a bit curious on the whole battle system..As I said, I'm new to the turne based thing..

Should I get this?

I agree, i've just got it today, i think it's proboblies the next best RPG since FF7 the era the storyline, the characters are great, love the FMV's the dreams are intense and kinda long but this game is also a little more strategic you got to play smart so my first impressions is good above what i expected tbh and i'm happy i picked up this game... just hope i got the time to play it through properly :P
