Madden Ring System

Does anybody know exactly how the ring system in Madden 08 works? I have played through a season and into my second season and have not seen the effect. Please if you could give me an insite that would be great.

Nevermind got it figured out. I was not saving my profile at the end of the night when I was shutting down. Does anybody know if there is a way to have the profile atomatically save?
