Depends on you really. I am a baseball freak so it was a for sure buy even if it sucked bad, which it doesn't. If you like baseball, like the season/franchise modes, like being in charge of a team, etc. then it is a buy. If you just casually want to play some games using different teams with friends, then rent it.

It's a good game. Better than 2K7 if you can get over some of the major flaws. The controls take some getting used to though and a lot of people seem not to like them, so... try before you buy is my advice.

The defense is a little lackluster at times, but this is one of the finest baseball games i've ever played.
