I give the game a 6.5/10 and that is being extremely nice. You will all regret purchasing this game. Its like its not even finished yet.
Domosmack needs to take the controller out his mouth because the game is no different on the PS3. Same glitches, same frame rate, same crap. You are completely blind if you think it looks any better than last year lol.
Your a blind 360 fanboy.......

Whatever you say dude, it's not glitchy if you turn the sports ticker off and change the fielding camera to dynamic. It's a fun game, and no matter what, it's the only option I have anyway like you said, so I'm glad it's going to last me a while. I don't care what you or IGNorant says about the game, it'll do me just fine and that's all that matters. Like somebody else said, it's our opinion and we are entitled to it.
I don't really give a rats ass about bitrate and whatever the fuck you're talking about, I just want to have a fun baseball game and this is that. Sorry I haven't been around enough games and shit with that 28,637 Gamerscore you got to care enough about shit like that, maybe you need to get out more. It looks good, it's fun, and it's BASEBALL, and that's enough for me.

You're the one who keeps coming on here 2 seconds after I post something every couple of hours in between me playing this sweet ass game.
YOU'RE 27 and married and still don't understand contractions, eh? Well maybe you should start paying more attention to how to grammar and your kids than your 29,000 gamerpoints. We made this thread to talk about this game and league not hate on it. Move your grumpy ass somewhere else.

OH NO! YOU CALLING ME A NOOB IS JUST THE MOST ULTIMATE INSULT! HOW AM I GOING TO LIVE!?!?! Especially because I'm not, I've been here 2 months less than you, and I've probably had a 360 for just as long, I'm just not going to waste my time/money on erroneous games just to build my "Gamerscore" so I can be "respected" by fuckwads like you that should be doing something like spending time with their 3 kids, or working to support them, or spending time with your wife. But instead you're trying to pick fights with a guy like 6 years your junior over a fucking video game that he enjoys playing, and making such intelligent remarks like calling him a "n00b" because rather than waste my money on games like BULLY I'd rather spend my money on my girlfriend/vacations/ANYTHING OF IMPORTANCE. You want to rip the game, whatever, you can have your opinion. It's fine and I'll have fun and that's all I care about. But calling me a noob because I have 1/10th your Gamerpoints when you just admitted you have a wife and 3 kids should really make you look in the mirror and take a good look at your life, dude. I wish you and your family the best dude, hopefully you'll take my advice, go read your kids a bedtime story or something instead of getting to that checkpoint in Bioshock.

Based on what I've played so far, I'd say the IGN review is fairly accurate. I've only played for a few hours so far but here's my observations:
1. Frame rate is not really any better or worse than last year. The game still hiccups and staggers through the first 30-45 seconds of loading a game, except now Jeanne Zelasko's voice is sometimes awkwardly delayed. I don't so much mind that because listening to her voice makes me noxious anyway, but it gives a bad impression from the start. During the game, especially during the animations between at bats and at the end of an inning, etc., you'll see slight hiccups. I barely noticed it until my girlfriend (who's video game playing is limited to Carcassone and Puzzle Fighter) asked why the game was so choppy looking.
2. I don't like the pitching. Maybe I'll get used to it but so far I've thrown more "meatballs" than anything else. It's a 3-part system that requires you to simulate the pull back, push toward the mound, and then the release of the ball. You pull back on the right stick in the direction of the pitch you want to throw (down for fastball, up for changeup, left for slider, etc.), then, when the recticle expands to the desired effectiveness, you swing the right stick toward the mound (up for fastball, down for changeup, around to the right for slider, etc.). During the push toward the mound, the recticle will shrink back towards the center and you'll have to "release" the right stick at the appropriate point. Release too late and your throw is off. Release not at all and you're likely to lob a "meatball" that will get crushed.
You can switch to the classic precision pitching (which you'll probably have to do online if the lag is anything like 2K7), so that might be a minor thing for some people. Sadly, I was a zone pitching guy last year and, so far as I can tell, the zone pitching option has been scrapped from the game.
3. Swing Stick 2.0 is slightly different. As everybody knows the power swing and contact swing are gone now. It's all based on the timing and motion of your swing. That's good, I think, but it'll take some getting used to since you now have to time your step as well. Last year you could begin your swing step really early and it wouldn't matter. This year if you start your step early it adversely effects the quality of your swing.
4. I don't mind the new fielding but I don't love it either. It requires you to not only charge your throw but aim it with the right stick. If you want to throw to third and you move your stick slightly lower than perfect left, your throw will be slightly off. It's nice to see a more realistic throw I guess but the IGN review is right than infield plays, especially double plays, are now more difficult to pull off than they were last year.
5. The presentation isn't as good as last year. Most of the commentary is exactly the same as in 2K7 but this year it seems like they don't comment on certain things, they comment late, or they comment wrong. This happened in 2K7 too but it seems to happen more often in 2K8.
6. The menu system is eh. I preferred last year by far. IMO it was a step backward. The small fonts can also be annoying.
7. Player faces are way off. I thought they at least resembled the players last year. This year it seems they somehow got worse. The batting stances and what not remain the same though (pretty good). If you downloaded the signature styles for 2K7 you'll prolly notice no difference.
I'm waiting to try the franchise mode, I've heard it's deeper this year with the minor league teams. I'm also hoping the manager AI is smarter and doesn't send Robinson Cano to the minors to be replaced by Michael Wolterman (??) in the everyday lineup. Or that the GMs are smarter and they don't leave Andruw Jones on the free agent list all year.
If the franchise mode is good the rest of the above stuff will probably not be as much of an issue for me. So far though, having not tried the franchise mode, I'd say 2K8 is probably slightly worse than 2K7 all around. Although this year I've yet to crack a homer and last year 90% of the hits I got were homers, so maybe it won't be that bad after all, lol.
