I created another thread earlier dumping on the game so I figured I'd start another one where I talk about what I actually like.
- It's a lot like 2K7. 2K7 had it's flaws but it was a great game.
- Baseball cards. I really thought this would be a feature that I didn't care about at all, but it's actually like a second set of achievements. I doubt I'll ever even play a baseball card game online but, for some reason, I still want to unlock all the cards and create my dream card team.
- Not nearly as much lag in online play. In fact, there's been very little if any to speak of. 2K7 was awwwful with the online lag.
- Locked advanced controls in online play. In all 4 online games I've played now the other player has paused the game in the first 5 seconds or so and tried to find the option that would let them switch to classic hitting (maybe classic pitching too). No luck. Maybe that makes me kind of a dick but I used to hate people who would switch to classic hitting in 2K7 'cause it was guaranteed to produce a parade of long balls.
- Franchise mode. Decent improvement.
- Imprecise throws. It's nice to see a guy being pulled off the bag to grab an imperfect throw. I wish it'd happen a little less often but it lends some extra realism to the game. It's also nice to see guys getting credited with some errors this year. Again, it'd be nice if it happened less often... but it beats every fielder miscue going against the pitcher as a hit.
- Strikes Only games. They don't interest me but it's nice that we have a lobby now where all the whiny little girls can go cry... I mean play.
