Not hard rock but I've listened to some of the artists you mentioned but have you heard of the band (hed)p.e.? It's kind of like rapmetal. Static-X and Breaking Benjamin are also pretty good.

Check out Sevendust. One of my fave bands. While they're hard rock, they're by no means heavy metal. Their older stuff is heavier than the new stuff, the new stuff is more melodical. I like all their albums, though.

I have some Sevendust stuff. I like it but I could never really get into it. The last Seether album was produced by the same dude that produces Sevendust

I like old school Metallica but the newer stuff...not so much. Offspring was a 2 hit wonder from the 90s...I haven't heard a decent song from them in ages

Ah yes Tool is great. I like their older stuff...I have Lateralus and Opiate(I think that's the name of the album). Some of their newer stuff is odd...sounds like tool...but it doesn't...

Machine head.
some of american head charge is ok.
Sepultura/Soulfly
Killswitch Engage
Fear Factory - Digimortal is a brill album.
Rammstein for the german twist.
Clawfinger
A perfect circle
Coal Chamber
Spineshank
Biohazard
Tool
Theyre all good but pretty common so im guessing youll know them.
What other metal have you branched out into? Do you prefer male/femal vocals?
Some shit hot female vocal bands are lacuna coil - tristania - nightwish but these verge more into gothic and operatic metal. I listen to a lot of black metal, its hard hitting, less of the 'lighter accoustic parts" some of my faves are dimmu borgir, rotting christ. Or theres a power metal route, check out Blind Guardian, theryre very fantasy/LOTR inspired but its definatly for headbanging and its not as cheesy as some of the other power metal ones.
|
I've noticed I'm extremely picky when it comes to metal. I love Lacuna Coil, I've seen them live twice(Ozzfest '04 and '06). They were better in '04 oddly enough...their new album just didn't sound as good as Comalies.
I have a bunch of Nightwish as well(7 albums)...I like some of it but I don't listen to it much. A lot of it reminds me of some weird fantasy music(like Numphomaniac fantasia).
I also have some albums from: Sepultura, Killswitch Engage, Rammstein, A perfect circle, Coal Chamber, Tool
I like Sepultura but can't listen to them for long. I like some Killswitch Engage songs...Rammstein is awesome. I haven't listened to any new Perfect Circle but their older stuff is great. I don't remember the Coal Chamber album I have...lol
I used to love Dimmu Borgir...but I saw them live at Ozzfest and thought they were very mediocre. Haven't listened to them since.
Lamb of God is great...who doesn't like them? I'm also into Children of Bodom.
I'll check out the other bands you mentioned. Who's your favorite metal band?

Deftones is great...I usually have a copy of Around the Fur and White Pony in my car at all times. Puddle of Mudd was crap live. But they have a few good catchy songs.
